Animal Welfare is on\u00a0of UL\u2019s newest societies and we aim to create a positive attitude towards animals and promote the proper care of all animals. This semester the society has aimed to tackle the equine crisis in Limerick. It is no surprise for anyone who attends University in the Limerick area that mistreatment of horses has sadly become a common thing to witness. Whether they are being left tethered to a small patch of land with no access to water or food or being forced to race using ill-fitting tack on busy city roads that cause them great pain to gallop on. We will be holding fundraising and awareness events throughout the semester to help organisations such as Limerick Animal Welfare (LAW) tackle the crisis. Anyone who is interested in helping out with these activities please feel free to contact us using below information, we would appreciate any new volunteers or members for this great cause. Keep an eye out for our activities around campus and please support!<\/p>\n

We would like to say a huge thank you for all who came along and supported our visit from LAW during Week Four who helped us to understand the issues facing local organisations in Limerick. In Week Five, the Psychology Society kindly invited us to be involved with bringing rescued dogs from the organisation on campus to raise funds for the organisation and also see lots of cute doggies. It was a win-win for all involved and everyone was delighted to make new furry friends! On the Wednesday of week 9, the Animal Wlefare Society will be hosting a table quiz with proceeds going to Limerick Animal Welfare. We have lots of prizes to be won on the night so all are welcome to come along for the craic!<\/p>\n
