Last night the Battle Of The Bands continued with a second instalment of competing acts. <\/p>\n

The four groups; Apaches, A Weekend Away, Duframe, and Kodu all brought different sounds, making it a great night for those who attended.<\/p>\n

The first to play were Apaches, who set the standard very high. <\/p>\n

The group of five (Ava Whelton, Shane Murphy, Cian Cusack, Calum McGavock, and Ciaran Brady) weren\u2019t fazed by being first to play.<\/p>\n

The group managed to kick some life into a timid and sober crowd.<\/p>\n

The band showed off their own mellow style by playing original songs like \u2018Move Along\u2019 and \u2018Cradling Arms\u2019 while putting their own twist on crowd favourites like \u2018Stacey\u2019s Mom\u2019 and \u2018Rolling in the Deep\u2019 keeping the audience bopping along.<\/p>\n

The band was pleased with their first Limerick performance.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the band\u2019s singer Eva, she said the gig was \u201creally good. The crowd was great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next up was A Weekend Away, who kept the standards high and the atmosphere growing.<\/p>\n

A heavier sound than the group previous, the band succeeded in hyping the crowd, with the courtyard beginning to fill with dancing bodies.<\/p>\n

The mostly original set was received well, especially \u2018Going Down\u2019, though their electric cover of \u2018Killing In The Name\u2019 was what really got the people going. <\/p>\n

Another group of five, the boys thought their set went \u201cvery well,\u201d admitting they \u201cfancy their chance\u201d of winning.<\/p>\n

As the night rolled on, the good music continued. <\/p>\n

Duframe, the duo of Jack and Andy Loughnane, came on next. <\/p>\n

Once again, they offered a different taste of music styles, keeping the night fresh and interesting for everyone at the Stables.<\/p>\n

The Nenagh boys are no strangers to gigging, and are hoping this exposure will help get their name out in Limerick, regardless of a win or a loss.<\/p>\n

Kodu finished up the night as it started, on a high. <\/p>\n

Their mellow, contemporary and psychedelic sound was the perfect way to please the crowd. <\/p>\n

Though the music was chilled and downbeat, the crowd were standing and enjoying the vibes. <\/p>\n

Another original set, the boys (Darren Curtin, Eoghan O\u2019shea, Dillon Reid, Gavin Foy Jake Harris and Ciaran Keogh) thought it was \u201ca fun gig.”<\/p>\n

The crowd obviously agreed, with shouts for \u201cone more tune\u201d going unanswered already well over closing time.<\/p>\n

Casavettes<\/a> and A Weekend Away<\/a> will be progressing to the final next Tuesday along with a wildcard to be announced on UL Music Soc’s<\/a> Facebook on Friday.<\/p>\n
