Limerick has won two categories in the Financial Times fDi\u2019s European Cities and Regions of the Future 2018\/19. The report, created by fDi Intelligence, is a biennial publication which lists the top locations in Europe for attracting future inward investment.<\/p>\n

Limerick placed first in the micro category for Top Ten European Cities of the Future. Cathy Mullan, Head of Research in the fDi Rankings,\u00a0 credited Limerick City and County Council for harnessing the investment potential of the city. Mullan also praised the Limerick 2030 initiative and the Limerick Twenty Thirty Strategic Development DAC for the city\u2019s success in the rankings. Birmingham, Bordeaux and Debrecen ranked first for European City of the Future in the major European city, mid-size European city and small European city categories respectively.<\/p>\n

Limerick also scooped best city in the Top Ten Micro European Cities for Business Friendliness category, placing above fellow Irish cities Shannon, Galway, Waterford and Drogheda.<\/p>\n

Councillor Stephen Keary, Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, greeted the news favourably. \u201cI am delighted that Limerick is receiving international recognition which can only further boost the efforts to promote Limerick\u2019s attractiveness as an investment location,\u201d he said. University of Limerick (UL) President Dr Des Fitzgerald also applauded Limerick\u2019s success, tweeting: \u201cthis is welcome news\u201d.<\/p>\n

Limerick was included in four other \u2018top ten\u2019 categories and ranked 16th<\/sup> in the Overall Top 25 European Cities of the Future.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n
