Mick Flannery will perform at a Lunchtime Concert in University of Limerick this afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The concert will be held in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and presented by the MA in Songwriting.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All are welcome to attend and admission is free.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The singer-somgwriter will also host an exclusive workshop at UL for students of the MA in Songwriting.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The 45 minute set will run between 1.15 and 2.00pm. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2018Rosaleen\u2019, Mick Flannery\u2019s summer release, was nominated for Best Original Folk Track at the RT\u00c9 Radio Folk Awards.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The song was written in response to the recent CervicalCheck controversy in Ireland.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All proceeds from the song are donated to the National Women\u2019s Council\u00a0of Ireland.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThe song talks about scandals in Ireland, past and present, from the women of this country being let down when in need of healthcare, to the horrors of the Catholic Church,\u201d said Flannery in a Cork Examiner interview.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In 2016 Mick Flannery released his latest album, \u2018I Own You\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The album deals with themes of social injustice and inequality, according to Flannery.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2018I Own You\u2019 was highly acclaimed amongst listeners and critics alike.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mick Flannery will be returning to Limerick to play Dolan\u2019s Warehouse in December of this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This upcoming tour will include performances across Ireland and the globe \u2014 Including dates in New Zealand, San Francisco and Sydney.<\/span><\/p>\n
