With that being said, here are my picks of songs that perfectly capture that autumn aesthetic\u2026 think golden hour, leaves, coffee, cold weather, and all that other great seasonal stuff.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cShrike\u201d by Hozier<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This track is ideal listening for crisp autumn days. The acoustic guitar and Hozier\u2019s signature lilt make it atmospheric and beautiful; perfect for frolicking through the leaves, or whatever else you get up to this time of year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, the entire <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nina Cried Power<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> EP is perfect listening for this month. Basic autumnal aesthetics aside, October is Black History Month in the UK and Ireland, and \u201cNina Cried Power\u201d is described as being a love letter to the spirit of protest, and more specifically to Nina Simone; a black singer who used her music to stick it to the white man, and to advocate for black rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oHGJ7UX6Gmk&#038;frags=pl%2Cwn<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhite Winter Hymnal\u201d by Fleet Foxes<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This song is an upbeat celebration of the autumn\/winter period. Full of lush harmonies, and with a simple and distinct melody, I guarantee that this song will be stuck in your head for days\u2026 and you\u2019re going to love it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal (OFFICIAL VIDEO)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DrQRS40OKNE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBaby\u2019s Wearing Blue Jeans\u201d by Mac Demarco<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I can\u2019t listen to this song without having a groove&#8230; It\u2019s catchy, feel good, and again, just <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">groovy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. (I\u2019m bringing the word \u201cgroovy\u201d back, guys. Just like \u201cfetch\u201d, I will make it happen). This song will be sure to banish any rainy-day blues that arise this autumn. As always, Mac Demarco\u2019s incredible vocal range champions the contrast between falsetto and baritone, creating a song that\u2019s technically well balanced and composed. For those of us who don\u2019t really care about music theory, it\u2019s just a really great song. Trust me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Baby&#039;s Wearing Blue Jeans\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hLzlm_phDpM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cGuiding Light\u201d by Mumford &amp; Sons<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mumford and Sons are back, and just in time for autumn! Purveyors of folk, this band are my go-to when October rolls around. \u201cGuiding Light\u201d features the full harmonies and heavy acoustic guitar that we all associate with Mumford &amp; Sons, but it also uses negative space incredibly, as a some of the song features strong vocals alone with little to no instrumental accompaniment. The bridge is also incredibly unique, and nothing like the band have composed before. This is definitely one of those songs where, if you listen to it as you\u2019re walking, you\u2019ll feel like the main character of your own film as the credits roll\u2026 we all do that, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Mumford &amp; Sons - Guiding Light (Lyric Video)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qHsEwQvnGOE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHalf as Good as You\u201d by Tom Odell<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tom Odell is another safe bet for this time of year; his first album <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Long Way Down<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> featured the hit \u201cAnother Love\u201d, which <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">should<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have its own spot on this list, but I wanted to recommend one of his lesser known songs instead. \u201cHalf as Good as You\u201d came out in August and sees the singer and pianist team up with Alice Merton to create a gorgeous and unique anti-love song.
