Welcome back to Controversgirl!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Since this is only the second column, I\u2019m not gonna throw anything too crazy at you just yet, we\u2019ll keep it nice and simple.<\/p>\n

So, this week let\u2019s talk about the elephant in the room: hats. Are they in? Are they out? Who knows!<\/p>\n

But first things first, before we start chasing after social trends it\u2019s important to get a good grip on what YOU want and what suits YOU.<\/p>\n

Forget the trends for a minute and let\u2019s trim it back to the basics: beanies, berets, fedoras, baseball caps. These are the most common types of hats, so we\u2019re gonna focus on them for today.<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re choosing a hat it\u2019s essential to take into account the type of head and hair you have- it’s no good saying it looks good on Alexa Chung with her cute little bob if you\u2019ve got dreads hanging down to your knees.<\/p>\n

You have to find what suits you.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also just as important to find what doesn\u2019t suit you. From my experience, I can tell you baseball caps don\u2019t work with fringes (unless you love having to pull hair out of your eyes every two seconds).<\/p>\n

You also have to consider your own personal style. I know- this seems super obvious to me too, but you\u2019d be surprised by how many people drop their true style just to pick up another fast fashion trend.<\/p>\n

For example, if you\u2019re a vintage queen through and through then do yourself a favour and don\u2019t start wearing Yankee hats just because everyone else is- stick with the berets, sweetie trust me.<\/p>\n

That being said, I\u2019m a big advocate for pushing the boat out and trying something new.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and experiment with new trends and styles, if that\u2019s what
\nyour feeling at the time.<\/p>\n

Remember you don\u2019t have to label your \u201cstyle,\u201d you could be hardcore Gothic-esque today and pink princess tomorrow- that’s the beauty of fashion.<\/p>\n

At the moment Penney\u2019s have really great hats for even better prices.<\/p>\n

But if you\u2019re like me and don\u2019t want to end up with the same thing as everyone else then try taking a peek in the charity shops- you never know what gems you might find.<\/p>\n
