Limerick School of Art & Design graduates Jackie McGrath and Zoe-Mae Stevens will be putting on an environmental art exhibition on the 26<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/sup>-29<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/sup> of September in Limerick City. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition, titled <\/span><\/span>Conscientia<\/i><\/span><\/span>, aims to raise awareness about plastic pollution in the seas, as well as the problem of Landfill in Ireland. Both artists have worked with communities in the Limerick and Clare area to create large scale sculptures using recycled materials such as beach debris, recycled clothes and scraps of fabric.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking To An Focal, Zoe said “We are both environmental artists and are trying to raise awareness about plastic pollution on both land and in the sea..both of us have worked with communities to make the sculptures will be on display.”<\/p>\n

Conscientia<\/i><\/span><\/span> encourages awareness. Awareness about our harmful everyday habits and the effects that they are having. Awareness of re-using and recycling, how we can recreate something provocative from something as mundane as a plastic fork. But most importantly awareness of community and how important it is to tackle the current environmental problem as a collective consciousness.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>The exhibition will open on Thursday 26<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/sup> of September 6-9pm and will run from Friday 27<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/sup> until Sunday 29<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/sup> 10am-5pm. The exhibition will take place on the ground floor of Eastgate House, Lock Quay, Limerick. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is a free entry event, and is sure to be a thought-provoking and profound day out in Limerick.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
