Movember is an annual fundraising event which takes place during the month of November to raise awareness for men\u2019s health.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was first set up by a group of friends in Australia, 2003 but has since become a worldwide event.<\/span><\/p>\n

In it\u2019s second year running, as of Saturday 28 November at 17.07 the <\/span>Are UL? <\/span><\/i>Movember team have tripled what they raised last year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Teams across the University of Limerick have collaboratively raised over \u20ac20,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the month the \u2018Are UL?\u2019 team put on 19 events, from \u2018moga\u2019 classes on Mondays; 11 mo-talks with guests such as Clodagh Guerin of Anytime of the Month, Peadar Collins of the Speakfor15 movement and Niall Colgan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cornstore also put on a Mocktail Class in collaboration with the team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All events were livestreamed via Zoom and are currently being uploaded to Youtube for anyone that either missed events or would like to refer back to them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The events and guests ranged from people sharing their own personal stories; to people from charities sharing charity perspectives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Movember UL founder Tariq El- Masri called the month and reception of the fundraiser \u201camazing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The amazing team boasted 67 members.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr El- Masri was very pleased and proud of the \u201cincredible team\u201d they had, and said a huge goal was to get a conversation going about men\u2019s health.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A massive congratulations to everyone who participated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Final year student Se\u00e1n \u00d3\u2019Maoilchiar\u00e1in exceeded his goal of \u20ac500 and raised \u20ac3,120 (as of Saturday, 28 November at 17.07).<\/span><\/p>\n

University of Limerick is currently the 4<\/span>th<\/span> University to fundraise for Movember, on the heels of Trinity College, UCD and UCC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Donations are being accepted up to December 9<\/span>th<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
