The broadcaster\u2019s memoir was published after her untimely passing in February from her battle with cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The writing chronicles her career as biochemistry student, an investigative journalist and as a broadcaster beloved by the nation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keelin\u2019s husband completed the book following her passing with readers praising the positive, inspirational outlook held throughout.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The award for Bord Gais Energy Sports Book of the year went to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Champagne Football<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 by Mark Tighe and Paul Rowen which follows the career of John Delany as head of the Football Association of Ireland and his ultimate resignation following damaging revelations the authors published in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sunday Times.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No stranger to awards, West Cork\u2019s very own Louise O\u2019Neill scooped The Irish Independent Crime Fiction Book of the Year for her novel <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the Silence<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The work is her first mystery thriller in which a of rural island community revisit their tragedy\u00a0 as a documentary investigates a murder which occurred ten years beforehand.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The National Book Tokens Popular Fiction Book of the Year went to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Home Stretch<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Graham Norton. The BBC broadcaster explores stigmas of nineties Ireland with the story following a young Irishman\u2019s move to Liverpool,\u00a0 London and New York while dealing with the demons of his past.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor Luke O Neill, chair of Biochemistry in Trinity College Dublin has been a particularly prominent figure in the Irish media over the last year with his information regarding Covid-19.\u00a0 He received the Ireland AM Popular Non-Fiction Book of the Year for\u00a0 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Never Mind the Boll***s, Here\u2019s the Science<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His own take on filtering out the fake news offers readers a refreshing takes on controversial topics such as vaccinations and euthanasia\u00a0 with his definite answers employing science and humour in delivering the facts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non-fiction book of the year went to `<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Ghost in the Throat\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Doireann N\u00ed Ghr\u00edofa, a unique pairing of a 1700s noblewoman and the struggles of a young Irish mother in the present day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Disability activist Sinead Burke scooped Specsavers Children\u2019s Book of the Year\u2019s senior category for her book <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Break the Mould,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> illustrated by Natalie Byrne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The blogger and teacher has made her name as an influential observation of inclusivity in society, with his book aimed to encourage children to embrace their differences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dara McAnulty \u2018s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diary of a Young Naturalist<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> led him to receive the Sunday Independent Newcomer of the Year award. The County Fermanagh native\u2019s\u00a0 reflections on his environment has been hailed by naturalists such as Chris Peckham and follow his interpretations of his surroundings as someone on the autism spectrum .\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A retelling of the Children of Lir earned teen adult book of the year, with \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Savage her Reply<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d by Deirdre Sullivan and\u00a0 illustrated by Karen Vaughan earning the prize.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The Journal.ie\u2019s Best Irish-Published Book of the Year went to \u201cO<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ld Ireland in Colour<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d by John Breslin and Dr Sarah-Anne Buckley, published by Merrion Press, which features digitally restored imagery from Ireland\u2019s archives revamped in stunning technicolour.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, Love Leabar Gaeilge\u00a0 Irish Language Book of the Year went to \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cn\u00e1mh\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhr\u00edd for his a short story collection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The overall winner of An Post Irish Book of the Year will be announced on RTE One at 10.15pm on Thursday, 10<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">
