Hurling for Hope<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u2018Hurling for Hope\u2019 is a charity made up of a group of friends, players, mentors, and teammates from Ballyhaunis GAA Club in Mayo.<\/p>\n

They are coming together in a unique event to fundraise for two charities \u2013 Mayo Roscommon Hospice and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.<\/p>\n

They will be soloing a sliotar from the Mayo\/Roscommon Hospice centre in Castlebar, Mayo to the Mayo\/Roscommon Hospice centre in Roscommon town over the course of four days between the 23rd<\/sup> \u2013 26th<\/sup> March. The route is 100km and sees them go through Claremorris, Ballyhaunis and Castlerea along the way.<\/p>\n

The unique event will see a core team of 8-10 people from Ballyhaunis taking on the full challenge and they will be joined by some special guests and friends along the route over four days. Mayo hurler Keith Higgins was on board to launch this fundraiser with a difference.<\/p>\n

Sporting figures from across different codes are pledging their support to the fundraiser. Join stars like Cora Staunton (Mayo), Anthony Cunningham (Roscommon manager), Jason Ford and Ronan Maher (Tipperary hurlers), Jack Carty (Connacht and Ireland rugby player), Tommy Welch (former Kilkenny hurler), Larry O\u2019Gorman (former Wexford hurler), Stephen Coen (current Mayo football captain) and Grainne McElwain (TV and sports presenter) by walking a few miles or making a donation.<\/p>\n
