Writing is like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.”
– E. L. Doctorow

A call for all writers- aspiring or professional… The Ogham Stone, the University of Limerick’s very own arts and literary journal, is now taking submissions for their 2019 issue!

Whether you’ve been published before, or whether you’ve filled up a hundred notebooks at home and don’t know what to do with your work, The Ogham Stone would be delighted to receive your writing, with the possibility of publishing it. They accept prose, poetry, creative non-fiction, memoir and visual art.

Their style is diverse, and the voices of the journal distinct, so much so that this publication has attracted much international attention, and is discussed in literary communities in both Ireland and the wider world. Featuring the works of esteemed writers such as Martin Dyar, Professor Eoin Devereaux, and Sarah Moore Fitzgerald, aside from being a piece of art to hold in your hands, it makes for an utterly sublime reading experience… There really is no better way to get your work out there!

The Ogham Stone team have an active and widely followed social media presence. You can find them on Facebook, visit the beautiful theoghamstoneul.com, or follow them on Twitter @TheOghamStone. They run competitions, giveaways, and share the works of up-and-coming Irish literary talent. If you’re interested in submitting work to the journal you can do so by visiting the “submit” section of their website, and following the guidelines detailed there.

As Maya Angelou once said, “there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you”… tell your story, and share it with The Ogham Stone.

Please note that submissions close on November 2nd 2018.
